Weird

Not only are the words ‘soccer’ and ‘kids’ taking precedence around the world – it’s beside me, why anyone would ever want to call their children – “little goats” or football – “soccer”; but another exasperating term that has been catching on lately is the world/term/slang ‘weird’.

Weird: Involving or suggesting the supernatural; unearthly or uncanny, eerie. It truly perturbs me when people use this word to describe differences between one another and in turn say this to insinuate disgust or to ridicule someone because of differences uncommon to their own. Because something or someone is different or thinks differently does NOT mean they are ‘weird’; they are just DIFFERENT; and what is wrong with being different? Difference is what makes each and every one of us special and unique. Different animals, countries, cultures, languages, religions, beliefs, and people – it really is splendid the differences between us all – it’s special, it’s exciting, it’s a treasure waiting to be discovered and shared.

Einstein, Thomas Edison, Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, Jesus, Siddartha, Bill Gates, Oprah, Mother Teresa, John Lennon, Charlie Chaplin, Elizabeth Taylor, all were different people…

What I find “weird” over and over again is that we human beings are the only species that willfully and mindfully continuously bring our own kind down. The only ones that prefer to manipulate, hate, hurt and destroy – over, and over, and over again. Now something is seriously wrong with that picture.

Think before you speak – or simply speak less – nobody’s perfect – and if you have nothing good to say about someone or a situation – you just may want to hold your tongue.

Bless-up!
