Coffy

We’re taking it back to 1973, with a whole lot of gun-slinging and boob-flying action for your viewing entertainment! Written and Directed by Jack Hill, whom you may remember wrote and directed other successful classics like ‘Foxy Brown’, ‘The Big Bird Cage’ and ‘Spider Baby’ also brought us ‘Coffy’ starring the beautiful black goddess Pam Grier’.

I love watching films with strong female leads and Pam Grier does a great job at keeping consistent with her character’s wants and needs. She is beautiful, fearless, and also vulnerable enough to make the audience stay with her for the entire story. Booker Bradshaw, Robert DoQui, William Elliott, Allan Arbus, Sid Haig, and John Perak are to name a few of the men that she had to out-smart to save the day.

This Action/Crime/Thriller even though had a strong female lead still appealed to men’s palettes with its content and sex-appeal. The story was simple enough and well executed but it was highly driven on extreme violence (some of the ways people were killed) and very many sexual connotations. Pam Grier takes wonderful direction though from Jack Hill, who brought an exciting funk-vigilante-black-goddess to life! I’d watch it all over again! Enjoy!
