On How to Let Go

We’ve all been through our darkest days and because those days were so disappointing, so frightful and so disturbing we most times keep remnants within our beings or our hearts. We keep it there so that we ‘never forget’, the hurt, the injustice, or the pain. But my darlings, these memories are not meant to be kept forever. These memories not only poison us and cause dis-ease in our bodies; but they also harbor fear. Fear is something we as human-beings need to live without. Throughout my years it has been one of the most difficult  yet significant lessons to date - ‘Letting Go’. It’s much easier said than done; for as all of you know we carry baggage. That ‘baggage’ is again, experiences we’ve had in our past that for some reason we keep as reminders and protections if it were to occur again.

This is understandable darlings.

Fear is a chain reaction in the brain which releases chemicals that cause the body to react in different ways; fast breathing, a racing heart, energized muscles among other things. The brain is an abstruse and mysterious organ but triggering these responses won’t help one overcome any stressful situation. That is why it is suggested for us to face our fears. Why do we have these fears in the first place? It is because we cannot let go of what happened to us.

This brings us to the age-old question how exactly can one ‘let go’? Well darlings, to let go we must ‘forgive’. Yes, forgive. Our enemies, our friends, our fathers, our mothers, our sisters, our brothers, ex-boyfriends, ex-girlfriends, husbands, wives, racists, chauvinists, those who are also in so much pain and unable to let go. Until we do that, we cannot truly be free from fear. Free from the power they hold over us. Once we release and forgive them from their horrible acts; only then will we truly let go and begin to flow again.

Keeping the flow is important because if we are unable to flow in time with the Universe; we will miss out on all the beautiful blessings, and surprises that we can attract into our lives. It’s imperative to keep in the flow if we want what’s best for us. Being strong in this manner we are then able to face our fears/demons when they arise again. We become spiritual warriors and will be able to slay all those who deem to bring us harm.

Sometimes it’s just a little love in your heart — is all you need to let go…

Fear Not

I’ve been greeted by a specific type of people lately; simply put - our youthful generation. And I’ve realized even though I’m hugely part of this generation I feel most times that I’m different or don’t fit in too well at all. It is evident that our people nowadays are living in great fear. I don’t speak of the Boo!-Halloween-Scary movies-type fear but instead fear of Success, fear of Traditions, fear of Not measuring up, fear of God, fear of Truth, fear of Faith, fear of Friendship, fear of Romance, fear about just about everything! And as to not deal with things they’re fearful about they try to forget it all and pretend it’s not there or it doesn’t exist.

Sure we’re evolving as a human race, but sometimes I feel that fear takes grip of the majority of our race because we’re afraid of embracing our imperfections in order to make them better. Fear kills our minds and our hopes, and it makes it hard for us to see where we ought to be going. Our hearts are shut off - it can’t grow, because we are afraid of exposing it to life!

Life isn’t perfect, and it doesn’t seem fair - but your journey is yours alone. Special and specific to you - embrace that. Rise above the odds and don’t give up.The storms won’t stop coming, so you can choose to be swept away and afraid, or fight the anger of the heavy winds even if you’re in your most tender moments - we must not be intimidated with tragedy or hell, instead we must trust that our story isn’t over yet! It’s not our turn yet, but it’ll soon come. What have we got to lose?

Our generation believes that because things didn’t work out for some people that it’s why they should run away from traditions and rebel. Tradition is a map, a guide that helps us along our journey; just because someone before you got lost doesn’t mean you will too! Our present is always a slight variation of the past so why not withhold some guidance and tools for when the times get rough. We are never alone, people before us experienced the same wants, hurts, highs and lows so why live in fear when you can adopt traditions that will give you strength when you need it most?

Of course we will be lost without it, afraid without it because we try to forget what preceded us - about the everlasting love, joy and guidance from our heavenly source. We mustn’t let the fire die, it’s the only way for us to light the way. Fear is a long road where we stumble in darkness; there are no secrets - there is nothing to fear - we all journey through this jungle in life. Times change, but our problems remain the same - it’s virtues and values that have always been repeated to wake us up from our nightmares.

We value virtue although we don’t speak about it. We think it’s too hard, it’s scary because we might fail, but would you rather speak about the cheats, the wicked, or the whores? The way of a soul without fear is one that aspires to tradition and virtue, this can bring you great happiness because you are working towards something you know worked for others; others who had the experience. Living in fear is living in constant misery. Day in and day out…”I got it under control…” But do you really? Sorry to break it to you darlings, but you really aren’t…as the saying goes - “Patience isn’t a virtue, it’s an achievement!”

Every Man for Himself

It’s funny how life is; and the paths we take over and over again until we see the trail that we’ve somehow missed before. In life we do not get consistent results and we do not always find things cool to the touch; we are constantly tested so that through our life experiences we will find new truth and re-assuring lessons that will infuse within us abundant joy and eternal gladness.

When you are not free and are riddled with fear, dumbfounded by malevolent words and discouraged by nasty ways; remember that prayers are always powerful. A prayer is not something that needs to be shouted out on the mountain tops or done in some sort of special ritual way. It is, simply, becoming one and having closeness with your creator. Spending time when you feel low or otherwise to just check in and give thanks or ask for guidance. Prayer is a wonderful way to have a personal conversation with the Universe/God. It is by doing this that you are connected to the heavenly truth and comfort and with that truth you become free from the selfish ways of man.

More and more we see our societies being greedy, selfish and spiteful in their words and actions. Instead of uplifting, sharing and loving, we compete, push-away and show off. Since when is it of good character to trample on the dreams of others? Such funny times we live indeed; that we break down and fight against each other instead of being humble and rising together. When they laugh, ridicule you and say they love you but certainly don’t mean it – let them be – don’t listen to their un-kind words – rebuke their slander and fear they try to impose on you and make a decree to do just the opposite; to use your talent and desire for joy; for positive change; for peace; for love; for truth; for glory! For using your treasures in this way is the most fulfilling; the most stimulating to your hearts; and in turn you will be blessed in sound body and mind. J

Be complete; become whole, by plugging in to the beauty of nature, the beauty of the Universal love and joy that only your heavenly creator can activate access to. It is within you, within all of us and prayer is what helps this power to flow. So flow my darlings, and mirror your love and respect for yourself also to your fellow man, we are all on paths, trails and the ultimate journey to truth, understanding, trust and ALL the love you yearn but don’t get enough of on planet earth! J

Emerging

There comes a time in one's life when they've been drenched by so many storms, and have fallen and gotten dirty and dusty, and been mocked and ridiculed and tainted beyond repair so many times. It doesn't mean that these things end. But there comes a time, when the person going through so much adversity is raised up and spun in light, emerging from all that pain to not only withstand future calamity but also emerging into a beautiful butterfly, into a life renewed with promise, hope and understanding; the mind finally becoming an ally, the sight blossoming with truth.

We must remember to be honest with ourselves and stand up for what we believe in, for only in truth can we prosper. People go about as if they have no conscience, and pretend as though the world revolves around them and their problems, but we will only realize that it is through sharing and giving of our time, effort, feelings and energy, are we able to achieve true lessons and fulfillment, one that no gadget on this earthly plane could ever come close to satisfying.

So break free of your cocoon, that safe place/haven you stay wrapped in because of fear of the unknown. You must not be afraid of leaving the shore, for you will never be able to discover new lands. Spend too much time procrastinating on speaking your true feelings, and you just might miss the sail boat, with that elegant 'island' girl on board. J

Home is where the Love Is

So I'm driving back from the airport today, extremely exhausted and happen to glimpse a billboard saying, 'Home is where the war is'; and I ponder, "What craziness is this?!" Being the natural investigator I am, not to mention one of the top investigators at the SIMS agency, having the snazzy company car, the groovy trench-coat and the perfect hat to match; I'm quite sure if I were to solve this new riddle, I just may finally get that flashy pipe! – hahah Whenever I see negative or curse statements I try to turn it around into something positive. Was home really where the war was? Certainly not! Home was definitely where the 'Love' is. For if one lives in a place where they're not glad to return to, and if someone lives where they are only greeted with complaints or petty arguments, then it most certainly couldn't be one of love; and then it positively couldn't be a place called home either for that matter! After doing my research I'd found out this was an advert for a brand new shooter game, and apparently as it stood out to me, it undoubtedly stood out for many other video gamers as well.

Then it got me thinking of a lovely flight mate I had met shortly prior and about her story and her torment. We had flown together before, and I'd realized this after seeing her eyes. So passionate, so wide, so gentle, but her frame had changed as she'd explained to me. She had lost immense weight, for she was mourning, she was going through a divorce. I would be lying if I said I didn't know others going through similar ordeals, because now is a time more than ever where divorce rates are sky-high. She was broken I could tell, she was smiling but not truly smiling, she was pleasant, but not truly filled with joy, she was working, so as to not focus or deal with the pain at hand. Being a good Catholic, she felt that she gave her all, respected her vows and now felt as though her world was falling apart. In the eyes of the world and in the eyes of her church, I could tell that she felt she was a failure.

Sure, I had not walked 'up' an aisle with sweet music and had my family present giving me their blessings and wonderful gifts. And sure I had not stared the person in the eyes and said the words, "I do". And sure I had not lived with another and slept next to them every night. However I knew what love is, and I knew what it was like to lose it. I understood when she told me of the aching within her heart that didn't seem to quiet down; the sleepless nights and the nauseous feelings that arose from time to time. I knew those feelings all too well, they were sickening and depressing and I did not see a way out; however in the back of my mind I knew that I had to go through this situation because 'out' was better than living a lie. 'Out' was better than settling for less and giving and giving in vain to someone who only wanted to use me and didn't appreciate my uniqueness and my love. I knew that despite these withdrawal symptoms and feelings of loss that I was doing something important for me; to regain my strength, my balance, and my genuine joy that had been lost.

We choose our trials because we wish to garner wisdom and spiritual enlightening from them; but most times we forget and get sucked into the human emotions that wrap around us tightly, seizing any ounce of normalcy we assumed and settled with in our lives. We have to let go. We have to journey onwards brave, knowing that yes, I do not see where I'm going, but I trust you God/Universe that ground will appear, and I believe that this was necessary for my growth and my ultimate happiness. If you think that's the best there is; well darling, think again! For as soon as you surrender and begin your healing, you'll be surprised to see what the Universe has in store for you. It is ten times better than you could even expect or imagine! J

I'm not saying you shouldn't cry. I'm not saying you shouldn't scream and punch the walls and pillows. I'm not saying that you cannot make sarcastic remarks and jokes. This is all part of the human healing; however go through it like a spiritual warrior, embrace it for what it is, and go through that pain, it is something you chose to learn from, and when you do, only then will you be able to garner the necessary curing for your heart. The shots of vodka, the sleeping pills, the ganja, the solid work schedule are only temporary alleviations, and when you're silent and still again, the feelings will crop up again too. You must heal yourself from the inside-out. It's not easy, but nothing good in life comes easy either. Sit with your fear of not knowing the future, sit with your pain that throbs in your heart, become friends with your salty tears, and tire yourself from running up and down the mountain, just so you can truly breath again (living in the now and not the past), but deal with it head-on. Deal with it naturally…it is the only way you will be able to truly heal.

Everyone has their own challenges…mine these days are patience. I am a fire-fly, trapped in spicy pursuit, I long and yearn for the one that makes my heart pitter-patter; but the time is not now, and I am fully aware of it. I only wish I could kiss and make them feel better, but the healing journey is one they must walk on their own, and even when you think you are alone, you really aren't. Your guardian angel is right at your side, seeing and hearing you, wishing only you will reach out for their angelic joy and comfort. Trust your instincts and intuition; you have made the right decision. You aren't a failure. You are a beautiful, unique, perfect, loving stream of light gracing everyone's presence you come in contact with. Believe it. Be gentle with yourself, love yourself, nourish yourself, and take it easy. The 'true-love' that you always wished for, is patiently waiting for you to 'really' smile again…and come home, for after all it's where love truly awaits! J

CRASH

"Don't speak to me, unless you speak American!" this is the last line of the film called 'Crash'. Written by Bobby Moresco and directed by Paul Haggis; Canadian filmmaker. I'd never been enormously fond of policemen, in fact never been even the least fond of policemen…well maybe this one time when a police officer named Martin gave me a ride back to my car when I was stranded after having my car impounded; it was kind of fun riding in the back of his car, like I was in a scene of a movie or something, or maybe this one other time speaking with the son of a police officer, he seemed to be a pretty decent fella', so I suppose his father couldn't be that much a terror.

Crash is a film about the ugly truth; it's about prejudice, racism, fear, hope, and about how human lives are interwoven between each other; it is a heartwarming tale that takes you on a passionate journey within. Of the similarities and differences that each of us take, somewhat laughable, and many times embarrassing of how we treat and view our fellow man.

I loved the transition shots and the soundtrack was ideal for the thrilling and extreme scenes throughout the film. Crash shows that there is evil within us all; anger, fear, and ugliness that often times overpower even the best of us. It tries to remind us to not judge a book by its cover and form intolerance and discrimination against other people. There are scenes in this film that I feel many people can relate with; and things are said that would often time only discussed behind closed doors.

I find this film to be quite an enjoyable one, however I cannot say that it is the most ingenious and unique technique used for the story line. As in the flawlessly made French film 'Happenstance' the system of using related lives and turn of events has indeed been done before. What is distinctive in this film is that it is set in Los Angeles, a very eclectic place with unpredictable circumstances because of intolerance. It also has a cast filled with iconic actors like Brendan Fraser, Don Cheadle, Matt Dillon, Sandra Bullock, and Thandie Newton (British actress) to name a few.

Adventurous stories armed with power struggles combined into one; a must-see film in my book. J
